Needle Felting 101
What an EASY way to use up odds and ends of fiber, and make quick gifts for the holidays!
Needle Felting 101
These little needles are punched in and out of a bit of raw fiber in order to firm it up and felt it. I found it a great way to use creative energy when my arms were too tired from spinning and knitting!
Frosty was my first project. I started with the head and worked down. I have to say he is really cute!
Santa Ornaments were next. I made a big one (pictured) and a miniature one.
Bunny became an ornament as well. I used Lion Brand Gold 3 ply thread to make a tie on the ornaments.
Last but not least...Felted Soap ~ What a Great Teacher Gift!
I used some Yardly Lavendar Soap that I picked up from my local Dollar Store. That's right ~ this gift cost me a little over one dollar! I found the directions at Mielke's Farm. This project requires wet felting by hand. You will feel really clean once this project is completed!
Needle felting is so much fun that my kids (all boys) got into the act as well. It requires some adult supervision with children, however, as those needles are SHARP!
Here are some other sites I checked out when preparing for these projects:
Felted Lady Bug
Prairie Beary
Have Fun!
